#25 Joniya Woods

My name is Joniya Woods, and I am a dedicated student-athlete currently in my junior year at Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, Texas. I have been passionate about basketball since the age of 10, and the sport has played a vital role in shaping both my athletic abilities and personal character. Through basketball, I have learned the values of teamwork, discipline, and resilience—qualities that extend far beyond the court and into all areas of my life.

As a power forward for my high school team, I have had the privilege of contributing to our varsity success for the past three years. I take pride in my role as a defensive-minded player and a consistent scorer, but above all, I strive to be a true leader for my teammates. My commitment to improving my game has led to three consecutive years as a 2nd Team All-District selection and the honor of Defensive Player of the Year in my sophomore year. I was also humbled to receive the Woman of Troy Award, voted by my peers, for my integrity, character, and excellence both on and off the court.

Along with my athletic achievements, I maintain a 4.0 GPA and am ranked 11th out of 431 students in my class. I am equally committed to my academic success and believe in the importance of being a well-rounded student-athlete. Outside of school, I volunteer at my church and help feed and clothe those in need within the community, reinforcing my belief that service and leadership are integral parts of who I am.

I am seeking a collegiate program that values hard work, leadership, and personal growth—where I can contribute my skills and passion for the game while continuing to develop as both a player and a person. I am eager to take on new challenges and bring my determination, drive, and work ethic to a team that is committed to success.
